June 2009 saw the inaugural G'dayUK week of activity aimed at bringing Australia and the UK together. G’dayUK 2009 saw a range of events taking place which covered a broad spectrum of industries and interests and resulted in many new business ties being established.
The launch of the initiative in the heart of London (Bondi-on-Thames) on Wednesday 24th June attracted interest from around the world and provided a useful platform to raise the profile of G’dayUK. This activity was followed by the highlight of the week, the CEO Forum, which was held in Whitehall and attended by a number of high profile UK and Australian business leaders.
Numerous other events took place across the week including:
• Tourism Australia Roundtable Forum
• DFAT Migration Expo at ExCel
• Wine Australia wine tastings and trade seminars
• Exclusive Australian menu in Selfridge’s Gallery Restaurant
• Innovation showcase by New South Wales
• Wine tastings and master classes by South Australia
• SKA Project event by Western Australia
• Melbourne Showcase by the Victorian Government
Commenting on the week, Phil Aiken, Chairman of G’dayUK 2009 said:
“G’dayUK 2009 has been a very interesting and successful week of events that has helped to raise the profile of what Australia has to offer the UK. From the hard-hitting CEO Forum to the more relaxing Best 100 Australian wines tasting, there has been something for everyone and we hope to reap the business rewards from this week for years to come.”
